Hey!

My name is Jessica Greene, I am a birth doula serving in the Asheville NC area and beyond.

I am a wife, mother, and pun-master in the greater western North Carolina area. I am the owner and lead doula on this team of amazing women. 

Pregnancy and birth have always fascinated me, even from an early age. When I was young I would imagine what it would be like to one day have my own children.

Once I felt the movement of a child in my womb, the touch of fear due to the unknown, and the grief of loss, I knew that this part of life would forever be a part of me. I embraced the journey and began to learn all that I could regarding the support and education for all aspects of motherhood.

Working hard over the past decade - transitioning from a regular "day job," getting the education and training I needed have been hard but so rewarding. Working now as a full-time birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator is such a blessing and gift.

In 2022, Kooshlie Care Doula Services grew into a full blown team of women, including Kimberly Parker, and Barbara Dodd. You can check out their personal profiles under the partners tab.

Our Name

The name Kooshlie comes from my family's heritage in Norway. It is a miss-spelled Norsk word 'koslig' (koos- leigh). The proper spelling was taken when I chose the moniker WAY back in 2002. I had recently spent nearly a year in Norway and really love the sound and meaning of the work koslig. It mean's comfortable or cozy. That has always been a goal when caring for myself or others, to make them cozy. Once I started my doula business I was struggling to come up with a great business name. All the cool puns were taken. My mother reminded me of kooshlie. It works, it is a long explanation, but it means a lot to me and keeps me thinking about my history, and in turn my future.

Certification and Training

All Doulas with Kooshlie Care Service's are certified or in process for certification. Collectively we have 25+ years of experience to offer the families who bring us into your journey. Our doulas hold a wide range of certifications including DONA International, Lamaze, Hypno-Babies, Pro-Doula, and the Elite Doula Co.
